Position SummaryThe Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations reports to the Director of Athletics and serves as a member of the department staff that is committed to excellence and advancing the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through its strategic plan and vision.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with Director of Athletics to promote the athletic and academic success of Central Arkansas Athletics through all media mediums.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for various sports as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
  • Maintain and input accurate stats of the various sports assigned to.
  • Write game recaps and stories to promote our student-athletes, coaches, programs, and department to fans and media entities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with various members of the media covering Central Arkansas Athletics.
  • Identify and keep up to date with trends in the evolving world of sports media.
  • Travel with teams to effectively manage stats and coordinate media requests.
  • Manage the athletics website for various sports and departmental programs and activities.
  • Provide direction for the Media Relations division, including the Assistant Director for Media Relations, graduate assistant(s) and student-workers. Work in concert with the external staff to effectively promote Central Arkansas student-athletes, coaches, and programs.
  • Comply with all NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference, United Athletic Conference and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong personal, writing, communication and emotional skills
  • Experience with and knowledge of various computer-based software for, but not limited to: stat keeping, graphics, and content management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, with 5+ years of experience in sports information or media related field.
  • Nights, weekends, and ability to travel are essential.
